The Right Color and Style for Winter 2016

Posted:
Are you itching for a change for your hair?  Lots of people like to change for the Fall/Winter months.  Plus, who doesn't want to look great for the holidays?  To keep up with the trends, look for texture in the style.  Smooth and sleek is no where to be seen in Hollywood, or anywhere else for that matter.  Let your natural texture show.  If you don't have texture in your natural locks, curl, wave, crimp to your hearts content.   Moroccan Oil has Beach Wave Mousse and Dry Texture spray for those of us who need just a little help with texture.  They also have Texture Clay for a more substantial hold and texture.  As far as color goes, it seems that almost anything goes.  From warm reds, to cool blondes, to neutral brunettes.  It's all out there, even combinations of the three with ombre or Balayage.  The real trend setters are doing fun, fashion colors like Rose Gold, Smoky Blue or Smoky Violet.  And that gorgeous silver/grey trend is sticking around too.  So try something new.  Spread your wings and you might find a new you buried somewhere under the same old, same old.

Moroccan Oil Products

This Friday, April 10th, from 4-7 pm is our Moroccan Oil Customer Appreciation Event.  For just , you get a blow out and a complimentary Moroccan Oil Hair Treatment.  Our treatments are usually so this is a great chance to try out these awesome products.  They offer so many different options in hair and scalp treatments, so we are now offering them to you.  For fine hair that needs a moisture boost we have Weightless Hydrating Mask.  Get the added hydration without the flat hair that usually goes with a conditioning treatment.  For medium to thick hair, we offer Intense Hydrating Mask.  These masks are applied after shampooing with Moroccan Moisture Repair Shampoo.  Both of these masks are left on for 5-7 minutes for maximum benefits.  Now, for the hair that needs the most help, we have Restorative Hair Mask.  This is for dry, damaged chemically treated hair.  Again, shampoo with Moisture Repair, apply the Restorative Mask to towel dried hair.  Allow to penetrate for NO MORE THAN 5-7 MINUTES. This is very important, it will hurt your hair if left on longer.  This will not make your hair feel better until you rinse and finish with Moisture Repair conditioner.
We also have Oily Scalp & Dry Scalp treatments. We apply the treatments directly into the scalp and massage it in.  It penetrates for 5-10 minutes and then we shampoo and condition as usual.
All of Moroccan Oil products are excellent.  There are many imitators and impostors, but Moroccan Oil is the original Argan Oil product and I have found nothing else compares.

Bad Hair Habits

Posted:
Everyone has some bad habits in their hair care.  Some habits are more harmful than others.  For instance, do you put your hair up when you go to sleep at night?  Really bad idea.  It causes undo strain on the hair all around your hairline and on the crown where hair is weakest.  Notice those short hairs around your hairline that never seem to grow?  That's from all those night-time ponytails.
Another reason your hair may seem to never grow past a certain length is, believe it or not, not getting enough haircuts.  When you go too long between trims, the ends of hair tend to fray and break off.  Think about it.  If you color your hair, you always grow roots right?  That means your hair is growing.  So that can only mean something is going on with the ends.  Fraying, splitting, breaking.  It's best to have a trim on your ends at least every 8 weeks.
Now for heat styling.  If you blowdry, flat iron, curl your hair or all of the above, you should be protecting your hair.  Try Sexy Hair 450 Degree Blow Out or Moroccan Oil Heat Protectant.  Deep Condition once a week, too.
For those of us that color our hair, using the right shampoo is key.  The worst thing to do with your fresh, beautiful color is use low quality shampoo.  I compare it to this.  If you went to Bloomingdales and dropped a lot of money on a dress, and the tag said Dry-Clean Only, you wouldn't throw it in the washer to save a few dollars, right? No, because you'd ruin the dress.  Same goes for your hair.  You invest a lot of money in your haircolor, so take care of it like you would that dress.  Don't wash it down the drain with the Pantene.
Spend some extra money on a High Quality shampoo for color-treated hair and your haircolor will have a much longer life.  Not all for color-treated hair shampoos are created equal.  Sulfate-free is a MUST.  I love all Moroccan Oil shampoos for this reason.  Also, Biolage Cleansing Condioners.  Wash your hair as little as possible and with a great shampoo.  You'll thank me for it, trust me.
